Research Areas: The CCA welcomes applications focusing on, but not limited to, the following areas:
1. Classical Chinese Literature and Philosophy: We are particularly interested in research projects that explore new interpretations of classical texts, investigate the influence of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism on Chinese thought and society, or analyze the evolution of literary styles and forms throughout Chinese history. Candidates with expertise in philology, textual criticism, or comparative literature are encouraged to apply. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the study of pre-Qin philosophy, Tang poetry, Song Ci, Ming and Qing novels, and the relationship between literature and political thought.
2. History and Archaeology: The CCA encourages research projects that shed light on various periods of Chinese history, from ancient civilizations to the modern era. This includes, but is not limited to, the study of imperial power structures, social and economic transformations, cultural exchange and interaction with other societies, the impact of technological innovations, and the complexities of national identity formation. Candidates with expertise in archaeological methods, historical demography, or the history of science and technology are highly valued.
3. Art History and Visual Culture: We are seeking researchers who explore the diverse visual expressions of Chinese culture, including painting, calligraphy, sculpture, ceramics, architecture, and other art forms. Projects that investigate the stylistic development of various art forms, the social and political contexts of artistic production, the relationship between art and religion, or the role of art in shaping cultural identities are particularly welcomed. Expertise in art conservation, museum studies, or digital humanities is also desirable.
4. Performing Arts and Traditional Music: The CCA seeks researchers who specialize in the study of traditional Chinese performing arts, including opera, theatre, dance, and music. Projects that examine the historical development of these art forms, their social functions, their aesthetic principles, or their contemporary adaptations are encouraged. Candidates with practical experience in performing arts or music are particularly welcome.
5. Qualifications:

Responsibilities:
