Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the Mandarin teacher will include, but are not limited to:
Developing and implementing engaging and effective lesson plans aligned with national curriculum standards (or equivalent) and the specific needs of the students.
Utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities. This includes incorporating interactive activities, multimedia resources, and authentic materials to enhance the learning experience.
Creating a stimulating and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning and student interaction.
Assessing student progress regularly through a variety of methods, including formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians.
Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
Collaborating with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment.
Participating in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Native fluency in Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua) and excellent written and spoken English proficiency.
Bachelor's degree in Mandarin Chinese, Education, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Proven experience teaching Mandarin as a foreign language (MFL) in a formal educational setting (minimum of 2 years experience preferred, more experience highly valued).
A deep understanding of Chinese grammar, vocabulary, and cultural context.
Experience developing and implementing engaging lesson plans tailored to various student levels.
Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning (e.g., interactive whiteboards, online learning platforms).
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and productive learning environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
A passion for teaching and a commitment to student success.

Desirable Qualifications:

While not required, the following qualifications will be considered advantageous:
Experience teaching the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) exam preparation.
Experience with different teaching methodologies, such as communicative language teaching (CLT) and task-based learning (TBL).
Familiarity with various Chinese textbooks and learning resources.
Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Certification in teaching Mandarin as a foreign language (e.g., CELTA, TESOL with Mandarin endorsement).
