According to the China Tourism Statistical Yearbook, the average spending per domestic tourist trip was 1,500 yuan (US$228) in 2022, a 10.3% increase from 2021. The average spending per outbound tourist trip was 10,500 yuan (US$1,613), a 0.6% decrease from 2021.

The most popular domestic tourism destinations in China in 2022 included Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu. The most popular outbound tourism destinations included Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and the United States.
