Materials:
    Whiteboard or chart paper
    Markers

Handouts with information about Chinese food categories
Procedure:1. Introduction (5 minutes)
Begin by asking students if they have ever eaten Chinese food before.

If they have not, show them some pictures of popular Chinese dishes and ask them if they would like to try them.
2. Discussion of Chinese Food Categories (15 minutes)
Divide the students into small groups of 3-4 people.
Give each group a set of pictures of Chinese food dishes.
Ask the groups to work together to sort the pictures into different categories.
Once the groups have finished sorting the pictures, bring the class back together and discuss the different categories they came up with.
As a class, create a list of the different Chinese food categories on the whiteboard or chart paper.
    Common categories include:

            Stir-fries
            Steamed dishes

Ask the students to read the handout and then discuss the dishes with their group.
As a class, create a list of some popular dishes in each category on the whiteboard or chart paper.
